Highly Integrated Single-Chip Solution
PQ90039 comes in a 6mm*6mm QFN-48 package, integrating a 32-bit Arm® Cortex®-M0 processor, a 2A high-voltage Buck DC-DC converter, and an ISO17987-compliant LIN transceiver on a single chip. Compared to competing products, PQ90039 offers a higher operating frequency, providing a solid hardware foundation for complex dynamic lighting algorithms. Under the same drive current conditions, its constant-current source features lower Vds drop and its time-division switching FETs exhibit lower on-resistance. Together with a Buck converter achieving over 90% efficiency, the device delivers superior thermal performance, simplifying thermal design challenges and providing greater headroom for system-level thermal management and structural layout.
On the drive side, PQ90039 provides 30 independent constant-current channels, each supporting up to 60mA, enabling a single chip to drive more LEDs. The integrated 12-bit SAR ADC allows the system to samples LED forward voltage in real time for junction temperature estimation, and combined with temperature compensation logic, ensures consistent brightness across the full temperature range. Its 16-bit high-resolution PWM dimming control supports refresh rates up to 976Hz with multi-channel synchronous switching capability. Compared to competing products, PQ90039 supports 2-way time-division multiplexing, meaning a single chip can drive up to 20 RGB LEDs, significantly expanding the system's pixel control capability to meet the stringent requirements for smooth gradients and color accuracy in ambient lighting applications.
Building a Strong Foundation of Reliability for Diverse Requirement
As ambient lighting becomes involved in safety-critical interactions, the reliability requirements for the driver IC rise significantly. PQ90039 is designed in compliance with ISO 26262 ASIL-B functional safety standards and incorporates multiple safety mechanisms, including an independent watchdog and window watchdog for program monitoring, a CRC unit for data integrity, and LED open/short and threshold detection for real-time fault diagnosis. Additionally, the on-chip 64KB Flash and 16KB SRAM both support ECC to effectively mitigate single-bit upsets, significantly enhancing long-term system reliability complex electromagnetic environments. The integrated DC-DC converter supports spread spectrum technology to further optimize EMI performance, helping customers pass stringent automotive EMC tests.
